Geometry and art

The parallels between geometry and art can be seen in many works of art. So we were inspired in our school too. In this activity, students use geometry vocabulary, paper and explore math concepts including: measurements, cubes, fractions and shapes.

Second LTT in Iceland: Italian preparatory works, meeting, travel diaries, photos and video

A marvelous experience

During the third mobility held in Reykjavik in Iceland from 09 to 15 April 2018 all the activities planned during the previous mobility in Palermo were carried out. In a first phase all the students of the partner countries presented videos on the Environmental Art; therefore, presentations were presented on some famous enviromental artists or on some sites where it was possible to identify the link between art and the natural enviroment. A visit to the Reykjavik Science Museum was also held during which the students had the opportunity to attend or take part in simple scientific experiments.

During some laboratory activities the students gathered in groups and created some artefacts, using recycled materials, such as cardboard, stones, wood, etc.

These activities made it possible to crate a positive atmosphere of collaboration; during the weeks the whole group took part in two guided tours during which it was possible to admire the beauty and the majesty of Icelandic nature

Islandic memories : travel diaries, photos and video

“Iceland presents itself as an unusual land, far from the European canons we are used to, both in terms of the landscapes and the environment and in terms of how people relate to society.
Very hospitable and cheerful, contrary to what one might think, Icelanders live a life marked by a very relaxed pace.
The tranquility that characterizes the capital, Reykjavik, is mind-blowing.
This increases considerably in the deserted lands of the so-called “Land of Ice”, where you experience the feeling of being part of the immense nature you are contemplating and, at the same time, perceive your infinite smallness in front of it.
The only word able to describe this country, and that contains all the feelings and emotions it arouses and the goodness of its people is MAGIC”

Thanks to my school I had the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus project and experience endless emotions.
The Erasmus project aims to bring different cultures together with the aim of conveying the idea that the diversity of customs and traditions is a heritage of each people.
The main objective of the project, in my opinion, is to build meaningful relationships between people of different nationalities. During the project we did many activities but the moment that I was most excited was when we all together did a dance inherent to their tradition.
I hosted an Icelandic girl, Oliwia, I was very fond of and with whom I shared moments that I will never forget.
We are still in touch and on both sides there is always the desire to meet again one day.”

Greek travel diary for Reykjavik

The second Ltt of our project took place in Reykjavik, Iceland in April, 2018. In a very cold, at least for the Greeks, environment we had the change to live for a few days in a place that has very few similarities to our country. The travel diary of the Greek students is at the following addresses

2st Ltt in Reykjavik- Art and Science photos and video

The 2st Ltt took place in Reykjavik, Iceland. Among other workshops our students tried to take photos and videos of all the monuments and spots they visited and made impression to them in order to create a photo show and a short video about the Art and Science spots in Reykjavik.

SMART DAY in science centre

The pupils and teacher  of our school visited the science park Vida at the Brno Exhibition Center on Friday 27 April. We find more than one hundred and seventy interactive exhibits over an area of nearly 5,000 square meters that give us  better understanding of the world around us. The science show has brought us into the world of sounds. What does the sound look like? Can you feel it? Can sound dance the flames? How is the sound below the surface? The show’s moderator has made us the way from the origin of the sound to our auditory nerves. We have learned what children hear and educators will not ever hear.
The sixth year saw what raw materials we produce, which we use everyday. They looked at the most common mineral raw materials and found out which elements are most common on our planet. Seventh class waited a series of color experiments. Chemistry is not only difficult, it can also be beautiful and entertaining. Our pupils found the difference between blending common colors and chemicals. Finally, everyone took home a small, hand-made gift, a tube that changed color. The eighth year was drawn into the detective game. They learned about the dactyloscopy and tried some other forensic experts. The aim of the program is to solve the deaths of young educators Megan. They communicated in groups, and use of a logical discretion was necessary. The oldest pupils were smarter than Holmes. They have become more familiar with not only the exhibits but also the phenomena they represent. With that help, they got information that was available until the final password that opened the treasure chest.
All day we enjoyed and awakened curiosity and the desire to learn more about the world around us.

15th of April World Art Day

On the anniversary of the birth of the great Genius and Master Leonardo Da Vinci, April 15th, on the World Day of Art, our school emphasized the importance of the rediscovery of Art and Beauty as a means of human and social rebirth, starting to make some videos and multimedia products on Italian and Sicilian artists, in particular.
In 2017 some classes of our school, inspired by a blog “Didatticarte”, created a tableau vivant of the “Flagellation” by Piero della Francesca, a painting that revisits the masterpiece by Antonello, the “Annunziata”, in a manga key, the revisitation of the bronze statue “David” by Donatello in a study for a tattoo and a photomontage work combining works of art and current images, a way to reread some masterpieces of art by updating them.
More space was given to the plasterer Giacomo Serpotta (that you can see on Youtube channel), to the architect Almeyda and finally to Giotto’s works . In this case the students created presentations and videos.

World Art Day

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” – Pablo Picasso

Antonín Slavíček (16 May, 1870 – 1 February, 1910) was a Czech Impressionist painter, our seventh class was inspired by his work in art lessons. Slavíčeks landscapes are related exclusively to the Czech landscape. Despite the fact that he is usually labeled as a prominent figure from the local version of impressionism, he only encountered French impressionism in 1907 when he visited Paris.
